Gather 'round kids, we've got a new inductee into the 21st century.

Here's Dot, who's bought the cheapest portable telephonic device... no, that's not right.

It's a MOBILE PHONE! Yes, the cheapest mobile phone money can buy.

It's such a larff some of the very dodgy text messages she's trying to sending out advertising her new found technological skillz to anyone who cares.

The transfer of hard data into digital data (as they call it in the industry), happening right before my eyes!

If I didn't have a phone now, I'd like to think I wouldn't buy one. Meeting someone these days who doesn't have one (and is younger than 90) is almost impossible.

I like how it's handy that your friends can call or text you anytime to make plans for for a chat, but I hate that companies and people you don't really want to talk to can also do the same thing.

Hope Dot's jump into the technology pool is successful.

Hope Dot's jump in the technological pool is way more successful than Jen's technological button pushing.

Adam, don't be mean! Blogger rejected my word verification on me twice, then posted it two times just to spite me.

I feel like such a n00b.

If it's one of those $50 Nokia jobbies with the black screen, good luck reading it in the sunshine. I bought one as an emergency back-up when my main phone went for a swim, and I declare that it is truly the crappiest mobile phone in history.

But at least Dot's a phone virgin, so she won't know just how crap it is.

You have a point, imelda.
I think you really have to keep these things in context though.. i had to talk Dot into getting that crap $50 nokia because she intended to use the OLD OLD OLD nokia brick phone she inheirited after someone else got a new one years ago.
So, it's a great phone, really..
