Isn't Chesty clever! i am loving our new template.

So i suppose you may have noticed... i haven't been blogging much recently. I've really lost inspiration and to be honest, kinda got sick of telling the internet how drunk i got on the weekend and what an idiot i am. Ya know? So yeah, we know the blog has kinda gone to the dogs recently, something the delightful Kiki was only too happy to point out. Thanks.

But one thing has happened which makes me think... last week someone in the comments, i think it was Amanda, referred to me as Bridget Jones when i was going on about all the wedding crap i was enduing with my friends. Not at all comfortable with this analogy, i decided to ignore it and hope it went away.

Then this week Dot sent me an email and happened to refer to me as a mean Bridget Jones.

WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT MEAN?

So whatever, i probably am a bit mean. People who are too nice kinda creep me out... like, they can't be trusted. Then i was hanging back at work this evening and this woman from another area came over and started talking to my boss and I.

She was sickly nice. Too much giggling and helpful-ness. I was un-nerved.

So i said to my boss after she's left... "i don't trust her, she's too nice". And naturally, he thought i was a total bitch, as only a man would (probably secretly hoping for a cat-fight).

Is anyone else ever put off by people who are really really nice? Even if it is just their nature and they're not trying to stooge anyone.

Just wondering if i really am just a bitter old cow.

you probably need to make the bit that says 'o comments' a little darker so that we can see it better

Yes, totally agree that "too nice" is untrustworthy. It generally means they are pretty fake, and would stab you in the back first chance they got.

I used to work with 2 women whoe were always 'too nice'. It was funny to watch them try and out-nice each other.

Of course, I was always said what I thought. Cow? Bitch? I don't know, but I'd much rather straight talkers over false niceties any day.

BTW - blog looks good

Heh. I don't think there's a problem saying things how you see them. And 'too nice' can seem, as Martie said, 'too fake' as if they're sizing you up, seeking your weak spots. But then I'm a cynical old cow myself. With a tendency to be too nice I suspect. Oh, it's a dilemma.

did i say 'mean'?
sorry, i meant to say 'keen'. as in 'peachy keen'. you're a peachy keen Briget Jones.... um, better?

lean? ah, scrambling!

I am suspicious of people who are too nice. But I am also annoyed by them because they mkae me feel bad for not being nice.

And hopefully I'll be even cleverer when we get the bugs ironed out.

dude, i totally agree with you there.

people who are 'nice' for the sake of being 'nice' are just idiots who cant speak their mind because they are afraid someone will get hurt because they think they are being 'mean'.

me? i just cut a swathe of bitter and meanness everywhere i go! woo hoo!

way to make me feel like a total bitch! I meant it in the nicest possible way, I'm sure.

Too nice people kinda creep me out. Like they're plotting and scheming something. Sneaky little buggers, I'm sure of it.

i know you and dot both find a certain someone (along with me) way too nice.

i know we all agree on it. although, dot is probably too nice to do anything about it

i ain't a hater, i'm just honest. constructive criticism if you will

WHO SAYS DOT IS ANY NICER THAN ME?!

Chesty LaRue said...

You're both equally nice.

Just in different ways.

Mars said...

hmmm... i think we are more equally not-nice... in different ways.

we are friends for a reason, you know!

There are one or two bloggers who are excruciatingly nice... and never have a snarky word to say about anything. I don't get it.

Chesty LaRue said...

AB - You're just a big old ball of bitterness, aren't you.

What did you do to Frank, Mars?

Mars said...

uhhh... have no idea who frank is or what wonderful information i have supplied him with.

kiki said...

is frank dickie?

i mean duckie. sorry dot

Mars said...

i doubt duckie would ever be stupid enough to comment on here...

I like the new look, it's very nice! Chesty is very clever!

I like tot hink I'm a nice person but I wouldn't say I'm too nice. I think it's fairly easy to tell when someone is being nice for the wrong reasons, they just have a different vibe than someone who is truly lovely.

I don't think you are bitter, everyone has their own ideas about personal qualities and all of that.

Mars said...

that's true...

what's worse: someone who's too nasty or someone who's too nice?

tough call.

Chesty LaRue said...

Too nasty is way more fun.

Mars said...

yeah, but what if they're too nasty to handle, and end up making me cry?

i dunno...

i think i'd rather be the bully and be a bitch to the nice ("nice") people...

I am always instantly suspicious of people who are too nice - you can't trust them.

Except D'jen of course, who is actually nice AND nice =o)

The Hun has a friend who I hated at first but then she seemed really nice... even though I know she's actually a bitch, I still fall for it. But I have a friend who has a gaggle of friends who are SO 'nice' and 'fake' I just can't be around them... and I think they read my blog ;o)

I'd rather someone who's too nasty coz then I wouldn't feel like I'm swearing too much or making inappropriate comments - as long as they're worse than me then I feel nicer (though I know I'll never be TOO nice!).
